Am Ende des Jahres 1978 war der Lauf aber erstmal zu Ende. Viel weiter hoch ging es dann erstmal nicht. Mit dem Aufbau eigener ACO-Gesellschaften in der Schweiz, Frankreich und den USA und zahlreicher Auslandsvertretungen hatte man sich vielleicht etwas übernommen und das Unternehmen brauchte eine Verschnaufpause.
